I acknowledge that I am voluntarily participating as a volunteer for the 2026 North
Carolina Folk Festival (“Festival”), including orientation, training, setup, Festival operations,
and breakdown activities occurring between approximately August 30, 2026, and September
30, 2026. The public Festival dates are September 18–20, 2026.
In consideration of being permitted to volunteer, I agree to the following:
1. Assumption of Risk. I understand that volunteering may involve physically
demanding activities and inherent risks, including but not limited to lifting and moving
equipment or supplies; setting up and dismantling Festival infrastructure; working backstage, in
production areas, loading zones, or other restricted locations; operating or riding in authorized
Festival vehicles (including golf carts, vans, and utility vehicles); working around traffic,
temporary structures, electrical equipment, staging, generators, and cables; walking on uneven or
slippery surfaces; exposure to weather, crowds, noise, insects, and environmental hazards; and
exposure to communicable illnesses, including COVID-19 and influenza.
I voluntarily assume all risks associated with my participation, whether known or unknown,
including the risk of personal injury, illness, disability, property damage, or death.
2. Release of Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by North Carolina law, I
release, waive, discharge, and agree not to sue the North Carolina Folk Festival, Inc.; the City
of Greensboro; Festival sponsors, partners, vendors, contractors, performers, volunteers,
and affiliated organizations; and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents,
representatives, insurers, successors, and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from
any claims or liabilities arising from my volunteer participation, including claims involving
personal injury, illness, disability, death, or property damage, except where prohibited by law or
resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct.
3. Medical Authorization. I understand the Festival is not responsible for
providing medical treatment or insurance coverage. If emergency medical care is necessary, I
authorize qualified medical personnel to provide treatment as deemed appropriate and accept
responsibility for any resulting medical expenses.
4. Volunteer Status. I understand I am serving as an unpaid volunteer and am not
an employee of the Festival or any Released Party. I am not entitled to wages, workers'
compensation, unemployment benefits, or employee benefits except as required by law. I
understand that I must follow all Festival policies, volunteer instructions, and safety procedures
and may be dismissed from volunteer service for failing to do so.
5. Media Release. I grant the North Carolina Folk Festival irrevocable permission
to photograph, film, record, livestream, and otherwise capture my name, image, likeness, voice,
and appearance during Festival activities. I authorize the Festival to use these materials in any
media for promotional, educational, archival, fundraising, or other lawful Festival purposes
without compensation or further approval.
6. General Provisions. If any part of this Agreement is found unenforceable, the
remaining provisions shall remain in effect. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State
of North Carolina.
Acknowledgment. I certify that I am at least eighteen (18) years of age and have carefully read
and understand this Volunteer Release and Waiver of Liability. I understand that I am giving up
certain legal rights, including the right to sue the Released Parties for claims covered by this
Agreement, and I voluntarily agree to its terms.

The undersigned parent or legal guardian gives permission for the above-named minor (“Minor”)
to participate as a volunteer for the 2026 North Carolina Folk Festival (“Festival”), including
orientation, training, setup, Festival operations, and breakdown activities occurring between
approximately August 30, 2026, and September 30, 2026. The public Festival dates are
September 18–20, 2026.
In consideration of Minor being permitted to volunteer, I agree to the following:
1. Parent/Guardian Consent. I certify that I am the Minor's parent or legal
guardian and have the legal authority to sign this Agreement. I voluntarily grant permission for
the Minor to participate in Festival volunteer activities.

working backstage or in designated production areas; riding in authorized Festival vehicles when
permitted; working near stages, temporary structures, electrical equipment, loading areas, and
pedestrian or vehicle traffic; walking on uneven or slippery surfaces; and exposure to weather,
crowds, noise, insects, environmental hazards, and communicable illnesses, including COVID-
19 and influenza. I understand these activities involve inherent risks that may result in injury, illness, disability,
property damage, or death. On behalf of myself and the Minor, I knowingly and voluntarily
assume all such risks.
3. Release of Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by North Carolina law, I,
individually and on behalf of the Minor and our respective heirs, successors, and assigns, release,
waive, discharge, and hold harmless the North Carolina Folk Festival, Inc.; the City of
Greensboro; Festival sponsors, partners, vendors, contractors, performers, volunteers, and
affiliated organizations; and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents,
representatives, insurers, successors, and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from
any claims or liabilities arising out of the Minor's participation as a Festival volunteer, except to
the extent prohibited by law or resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct.
4. Medical Authorization. I understand the Festival does not provide medical or
health insurance for volunteers. If I cannot be reached during an emergency, I authorize Festival
personnel to obtain emergency medical treatment for the Minor as deemed appropriate by
licensed medical personnel. I accept responsibility for any resulting medical expenses.
5. Volunteer Status. I understand the Minor is serving as an unpaid volunteer and
is not an employee of the Festival or any Released Party. Except as required by law, the Minor is

unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in effect. This Agreement is governed by
the laws of the State of North Carolina.
Parent/Guardian Certification. I certify that I have carefully read and understand this Agreement, have the legal authority to sign on behalf of the Minor, and voluntarily agree to its terms.
